The shrine of Prophet Joshua bin Nun, one of Iraq's archaeological heritage sites, is located in Baghdad's Sheikh Marouf cemetery on the city's Karkh side, opposite Al-Muthanna Airport.

The shrine was discovered by a committee of scholars from the Endowments Department and the Department of Encyclopaedia in the year 1386 AH/1967 AD. The scholars were led by Mustafa Jawad and Sheikh Najm al-Din al-Waez. Later, the shrine was restored and rehabilitated by the Department of Antiquities and Heritage.

The shrine is situated next to a mosque which is adorned with a small dome. The tomb of the shrine features ancient stones, adorned with Islamic engravings and covered in black cloth.

The Prophet Joshua lived between the 12th and the 13th century B.C.

Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi stated that he was buried in Baghdad, in the area of Al-Shuniziya, based on the will of Abdullah bin Ahmed bin Hanbal.

The Prophet Joshua is believed to be one of the prophets of Islam and is mentioned in the Qur'an as a prophet who was given knowledge and guidance from Allah. He is also mentioned in the Christian and Jewish traditions.

The shrine is considered a pilgrimage site by many visitors, who come to pray and offer their respects.

Despite the long construction history and the various renovations, it is said that the original shape of the monument had a square structure, with a smaller square located at the center, forming the shrine of the Prophet.

The site has been in use for many years and continues to attract visitors who visit the shrine to offer prayers and remember the Prophet's legacy.

The location of the site on the western side of Baghdad, in the area of Sheikh Marouf cemetery, makes it easily accessible for visitors.
